The Millennium Learning Centres (MLC) are small user-friendly centres where you can learn to use computers and the Internet, get help from trained volunteers or simply use the computer and Internet facilities in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The MLC Centres are located in community health and resource centres and community sites throughout the Ottawa area.
At the Millennium Learning Centres you can:
- access high-speed Internet and email
- use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and in some centres Access), Word Perfect Office, Microsoft Publisher and other office software
- attend introductory computer workshops
- get one-on-one help from volunteers
There are also special resources for job-seekers:
- phones for calling employers
- photocopying, faxing and mailing of resume
- help creating resumes and submitting them electronically
- help searching for jobs online
- low-cost voice mail boxes in all community centres for those with no phone at home
- newspapers, job boards and other job-related information in some of the sites
The Millennium Learning Centres are an initiative of the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres of Ottawa, with the Vanier Community Service Centre acting as the lead agency. The Centres are funded by the City of Ottawa.
