Governments are responsible for different aspects:
- City: Ottawa.ca (or call 3-1-1) for information on garbage collection, recycling, water, sewer, roads, snow removal, police, fire, daycare, parks, building permits, birth, marriage and death certificates.
- Province: Ontario.ca for driving license, health card, health care and hospitals, education, including post-secondary institutions, highways, prisons, civil rights in the province and social services
- National-level: Canada.ca for citizenship, copyright, criminal law, employment insurance, banking, national defence and post office.
